The Cravath Lakefront Park Summer Concert features a Country Music Legends show, starring Tom Waselchuk and Jami Lampkins and their back up band, The Dang-Its on Thursday July 8th , at 7:00 pm. The show will feature some of the best loved songs of the biggest names from Country Music’s “golden age,” including Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, George Jones, and many others.

Tom Waselchuk has led his Madison-based band, The Dang-Its, since 1998, garnering critical acclaim for his 3 independently produced recordings. The band has also been perennial honorees in Madison’s Isthmus Reader’s Choice Polls and Madison Magazine’s “Favorites.” With a roots-oriented approach emphasizing tight arrangements and clear, soaring vocal harmonies, the band shifts effortlessly from spare and gritty alt-country stories, to jazzy, western swing jump tunes, to dark whisper-quiet ballads. The combination of their country music standards and off-beat covers and originals has made them favorites in traditional and alt-country circles. Madison Magazine calls The Dang-Its “Rare jewels in the otherwise cookie cutter world of country music.”

In 2009 The Dang-Its released their third independent recording, Daddy’s Cadillac, and added new member and Nashville recording artist Jami Lampkins on vocals, guitar and banjo. Ms. Lampkins moved to Madison in April 2008 after testing career opportunities in Nashville. Lampkins just missed inclusion in USA Network’s “Nashville Star” competition, placing 11th (while only the top ten made the show). She lent her talents to several bands and found a friend and mentor in the great country artist Gail Davies. With Ms. Davies’ help, Lampkins was able to realize a life-long ambition to perform on the Grand Ole Opry Stage.

Joining Waselchuk and Lampkins are band members Rick Nass (pedal steel guitar), Mark Luhring (drums, vocals) and Pete Olig (bass, vocals).
