Nashville Artist joins The Dang-Its; will perform at Cravath Lakefront Park Concerts
Madison-based band The Dang-Its perform an evening of Honky Tonk, Western Swing & Americana at Cravath Lakefront Park, Whitewater, on Thursday June 23, 2011, at 7:00 pm.
The Dang-Its is a must-hear band for people who love traditional American music. Their style is deeply rooted in country music and its early influences. You might hear classic Patsy Cline and Hank Williams one minute and an atmospheric rendition of Oh, Shenandoah the next. Whether covering contemporary songwriters or playing their original music, the band showcases their diverse influences: country blues and Western Swing, Cajun, bluegrass, folk and more. And they do it with musical and vocal excellence.
The Dang-Its in 2011 will maintain a busy touring schedule in Wisconsin and four neighboring states. The band’s profile jumped last year with the release of their third independent recording, Daddy’s Cadillac, and especially with the addition of Nashville artist Jami Lampkins on vocals, guitar and banjo. Ms. Lampkins was among the finalists in USA Network’s “Nashville Star” competition. She lent her talents to several bands (including the great country artist Gail Davies) and performed at the Grand Ole Opry..
Band leader Tom Waselchuk (guitar, vocals) says, “Jami really gave a boost to our fortunes. She’s a great singer, of course, but she is also an amazing guitarist and banjo player. We’ve been having an awful lot of fun.”
The Dang-Its are perennial honorees in Madison’s Isthmus Reader’s Choice Polls and Madison Magazine’s “Favorites.” The group has three independent CD releases: Don’t Mean Maybe (2000), Our Way (2006), and Daddy’s Cadillac (2010).
