Good Neighbor Award
John Newhouse & Jim StewartÂ
The Chamber presents the Good Neighbor award to an individual(s) who is an outstanding citizen and represents Whitewater community at its best. Recipients make a lasting and positive difference in Whitewater by improving quality of life.
John Newhouse dedicated his entire professional career to making sure he could guide the future generation in a good direction. His passion for education was ever present in his classroom. Newhouse’s leadership was also present during nearly 20 years as Principal of Whitewater High School from 1968 to 1987. He was truly the best of neighbors.
We have Jim Stewart to thank for keeping this community connected in a number of ways. His retirement, after decades of service to UW-Whitewater, earning the position of Registrar, began The Whitewater Banner. This has been an integral part of keeping the community informed through a dedicated local news source since August of 2006. Stewart was the embodiment of selfless service and truly a good neighbor for Whitewater.
