Blue Sage Massage

Focusing on Wellness for Over Two Decades

Established in 2004, Blue Sage Massage has been an active business focused on wellness in Whitewater for over two decades. Sharon, who originally lived elsewhere, moved to Whitewater with her family in search of a community where her kids could safely walk and grow—and where she could build a practice rooted in care and connection. She found that in Whitewater, especially among the town’s vibrant population of retirees, a group she remains passionate about supporting through her work.

Blue Sage Massage specializes in massage therapy focused on deep tissue work, always delivered with care rather than heavy pressure. The goal is to increase range of motion, relieve pain, and improve quality of life. Clients often learn movement techniques from Sharon to help them stay comfortable and mobile in everyday life.

But Blue Sage’s story didn’t start in the beautiful studio you see today. She began as a mobile massage therapy practice. Sharon would carry her massage table into homes, apartments, and the local senior center. Clients signed up on a paper list, and she met them where they were—literally. After seven years on the move, she opened her first office and eventually landed in her dream space inside Fairhaven Senior Services. When the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a move, she relocated to a new space, and unexpectedly, it turned out to be an even better fit. Today, Fairhaven continues to bring clients to her daily, maintaining that long-standing relationship.

In the past five years, Blue Sage Massage has expanded with two exciting additions: an infrared sauna and a sound therapy studio, offering a more holistic wellness experience under one roof. Sharon currently operates the business with one part-time team member, though changes may be on the horizon as the practice continues to evolve.

Blue Sage doesn’t run sales, opting instead to keep pricing consistent and fair, citing awareness of market value and a commitment to long-term client care.

Looking ahead, Sharon is committed to her mission: helping clients move with freedom and live pain-free. And she has no plans to slow down. In fact, she often jokes that she’d love to keep going another 20 years. That’s right up to her 80th birthday!!

Sharon’s advice to new business owners is simple but powerful:
“Meet your colleagues(fellow entrepeneurs), get to know them, learn from them, and support them. There’s plenty of business to go around—and wonderful friendships and support will form when you choose not to see other businesses as competition. Be good to everyone.”
